Practice 03 — Expertise

Commercial Governance & Execution

Making consequential decisions accountable, and keeping them accountable through execution.

The decision problem

Govern a consequential commercial decision

Most consequential commercial decisions are made once and then never revisited against the conditions that justified them. This practice designs the mandate, establishes who holds authority for what, records the decision and its basis, and installs the checkpoints at which the decision is re-tested against reality.

Capabilities

What this practice covers

  • 01

    Executive commercial decision reviews

Independent review of a pending decision: the case, the contradictions within it, and what would need to be true for it to hold.

  • 02

    Mandate design

Defining scope, decision rights, evidence standards and success conditions before work begins.

  • 03

    Decision assurance

Testing whether the evidence base is sufficient, whether contradictions have been resolved, and whether the decision is defensible.

  • 04

    Authority and accountability analysis

Who is empowered to decide, who is accountable for the outcome, and where that mapping is currently ambiguous.

  • 05

    Execution checkpoints

Pre-agreed points at which the decision is re-examined against the conditions on which it was taken.

  • 06

    Dependency and condition tracking

Continuous tracking of the dependencies and conditions the decision assumed, with escalation when they move.

  • 07

    Retained commercial oversight

Ongoing senior oversight of a programme or relationship where the cost of drift is high.

Engagement shapes

How the work is commissioned

  • Single decision review for a board or executive committee
  • Mandate design and decision-assurance framework for a programme
  • Retained oversight through execution

Scope discipline

Where our mandate stops

Commercial judgement is strongest when adjacent specialist work is named rather than blurred into the mandate. Where another discipline is required, we identify it early.

  • We advise on commercial governance. We do not act as company officers, statutory auditors or regulated compliance functions.

Next decision

A consequential decision deserves a clear basis.

Engagements begin with a short, confidential conversation about what is being decided, what is already known and whether Alomarada is the right firm to take it.
